Winds and Rooftops and Ballasts, Oh My!!
ISES is excited to announce our upcoming two part educational series on Tenting. With the recent climate changes and increased importance of "rain" plans in the PCNW, there have been many questions in regard to tent safety and general tenting education. There has also been recent talk that tenting will no longer be allowed on rooftops. This could be a big change for our local industry.
The first part to our series will focus on the new regulations in regard to tenting on a rooftop. Portland Fire Marshals Michelle Coefield and Michael Silva will be here to speak to us and answer questions as well as Randy McCauley of Rainier Tents to give various perspectives. Mr. McCauley has been working with national and state fire agencies to establish tenting standards. Learn the Dos and Don'ts from experts. Come get all of your questions answered and be in the loop on this big change in our event community. Our first meeting will focus on:
- Public safety; safe tent practices; and what event planners need to know.
- Exposure to weather conditions and the seasonality of the event; mainly winds associated with the different seasons.
- Fire code surrounding tenting on city rooftops.
- Ballasting: understanding the options and what the future looks like in the rental industry in regard to: products, time needed, cost to client
